How To Set Up Active Directory Password Reminder Properly

By Stacey Burt

When you belong to an organization, you will see that most of the important information relevant to a company are stored in complex data banks. This is a part of the computer system that protects important data for the company. With proper security, unwanted people will not be able to access these important information.

The information that one can access to are usually stored in databases. Of course, these databases are set up together with passwords to protect them from unauthorized access. The passwords are then protected with an active directory password reminder. These are the basics of protecting the organization's databases.

One should know that these features are very important for the databases and must not be skipped. Otherwise, a person will get locked out of the databases. If this happens, he or she will not be able to access the information necessary for work. The feature should be properly set up then so that this does not happen.

If one has plans of setting up this feature, then it is a must to think of the specifics related to this task. These are the specifics that will help measure just how secure the databases are. The more a person follows the specifics, the more one can ensure the security of the databases. That is very important for any organization. Thus, here are a few of those specifics.

First, there must be a proper signal for accessing the database. It must be established for designated individuals. There are many forms for the signal that one can take advantage of. There is the option of biometrics and the option of speech identification. Either of these can become the standard of protection for your database.

Make sure that the passcodes are only give to the people who have the right to it. It is also a must to prohibit the writing, noting, or jotting of the passcode in anything tangible. If there are any of that, then it should be properly disposed of once one has finished using it. The passcode should not be that easy to obtain, especially if it is a passcode to the database for highly sensitive data.

There must be reminders associated with the passcode. The reminders must have a connection to the passcode that one has established. However, the ones who know about the connection should only be those who have the right to know about it. No other people should know about it to prevent unauthorized access. Otherwise, sensitive data might leak out to the outside.

Take precautions in the case of situations when the security to your data bank is breached. It would be bad if someone who is not supposed to see the important information in the data bank catch even a glimpse of what you are protecting. It will cause trouble to a lot of people. There might alarms or firewalls that you have to put up for this.

There are certainly a lot of other things that you have to do in order to keep your data bank secured. Otherwise, important information for your business will start leaking out. That would be bad then. It will put your business in great jeopardy. You have to make your security tight so that does not happen then.
