Stay Busy Playing World Of Tanks

By Jaclyn Hurley

Many people, both young and old, love to spend time on line playing games. There are literally thousands to choose from and fortunately many of them are free to download. Those who have an interest in the military should check out World of Tanks. This fun and exciting game has many players all over the world.

The game is set in the middle of the twentieth century at the time of the second world war. Players can choose to maneuver a range of armoured vehicles representing countries including Russia, Great Britain and America. There are both North American and European versions of the game. Players on both sides of the Atlantic are enjoying many hours on line gaming with friends and trying to outwit rival clans.

Once the new player is registered they will begin to learn their way around the game. There are so many different tanks to play with it can take a while to decide which one is going to be best for the terrain. When the game opens the players move into a battle situation. Single players are in the random battle area. This involves well constructed scene where the controller has to plan their strategy and seek out the enemy.

Players can choose between a tank of Russian, American or British design. They will learn all about the pros and cons of each type and which one is the best to use in each situation. They will also have to pay close attention to the specifications of each tank. Some travel much faster than others, whilst some have higher fire power.

Once the player has registered the lists are posted for skirmishes. Skirmishes are immensely popular and form the main backdrop of the game. Monday through Wednesday evenings are devoted to skirmishes to decide who moves on to which level. The playoffs are divided into the Alpha and Bravo levels. The higher level, Alpha, is battling for the bigger prizes.

A new player will really need to devote some time to learning all the strategies and tactics. When they first log on it is important to click the Game tab. This will take them into their own personal garage which contains not only their vehicles but also the control panels. They will need to learn how to drive a tank and how to participate in battles. The Newcomers Guide is well worth the time as it is packed with helpful hints.

Clans are a huge part of the game. The player must register well before play and becomes part of a clan. Clan battles take place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. After that the standings tables will show the rankings. The top half of the standings go on to the Alpha playoffs with bigger prizes and the bottom half go to the Bravo playoffs.

One of the great things about the game is that it is suitable for players of all ages. Even the younger players often meet with great success. They are just as capable of developing a winning clan as some of the older players.
