Flash Files For Nokia And Other Smartphones

By Estelle Larsen

There are basically two types of Flashing which are Full and Partial Flash. Full means rewriting the memory and structure of the operating system of the smartphone to flashable Read Only Memory or ROM. A Partial Flash is simple reprogramming for the phone in order for it to handle a different carrier.

There are different ways to do this for various models and brands of smartphones. So basically, there are flash files for Nokia phones and also from others that you need to download in order to proceed with flashing it. You can look up each model online and have the appropriate files downloaded.

Even a non pro can do this task that mostly professionals are only able to do. As long as they have enough skills and knowledge on this procedure. This is a risky process which can possibly have the memory of the phone be deleted or the OS to be erased, too. The best advice is to have it done by someone who knows how to do this well.

Flashing is done because some users want their phones to transfer into a different carrier while not having to resort in buying a new one, and also for better customization of apps and the OS, too. Although the advantage is great, this should not be done casually. Follow the instructions to lessen the possibility of a failure.

The device needs to be determined if it's a CDMA or a GSM. Code Division Multiple Access are phones that are flashable while the Global System for Mobile Communications have Subscriber Identity Module or SIM cards. The ones without the cards can be flashed. Also, make sure to know the ESN or Electronic Serial Number to secure that it is not a stolen or lost.

Use the USB cord and attach it to the PC and then download a compatible flashing software. There are tons of them which can also be free as well as making sure that you got the right one. Search properly so you could lessen the risk in damaging it with an incompatible program. Doing a Partial, you need to make sure that the next carrier is also in a CDMA network.

Uncompress the files you have downloaded and read the instructions carefully and make sure you understood them before carrying on with the procedure. The process will take around fifteen to twenty minutes to finish. Each device has a different setup, so it is quite impossible to provide detailed instructions, but these are just some general ideas.

Update the drivers of the phone and have it checked by the provider and know what you want to do for the phone which is either the Partial or Full Flash since the program will be prompting you with this. Get the MEID and ESN from the labels underneath the battery. The software should also be able to detect the phone allowing it to read it, then provide the unlock codes depending on the carrier.

The program will ask you if you want to Write it, or basically it is just asking for you to continue or finish the process. You need to learn further about this procedure and every phone is different. Either you can ask a pro or if you have a friend that knows how to do this. Take note that the warranty from the previous carrier will be gone and you need to acquire the ESN of the next carrier.
